About Herpetosure®
The UK’s leading and most recognisable brand in Ecological Fencing
For over 25 years, Three Shires Ltd has established itself as a trusted partner to many of the UK’s leading construction contractors, house builders, civil engineers, developers, and environmental and ecological consultants. Our extensive experience working on national infrastructure projects for high-profile clients has given us first-hand insight into the complex demands of modern construction and the need for solutions that balance practicality with environmental responsibility.
Drawing on this expertise, we recognised the shortcomings of traditional ecological fencing systems. Prior to 2004, fencing for newts, reptiles, snakes, and water voles typically consisted of 1mm plastic sheets buried into the ground and supported by timber stakes. While functional, this approach lacked durability, could not be reused, and generated 100% waste for landfill at the end of each project.
In response, we developed the Herpetosure® Fencing System in 2004, launching it to the market in 2005. Herpetosure® was designed as a recyclable, reusable, and robust alternative to outdated fencing methods, offering contractors and ecologists a cost-effective and environmentally responsible solution. Over the past two decades, it has been rigorously tried, tested, and successfully implemented across a wide range of projects, becoming the UK’s leading ecological fencing system.
Today, we are proud to expand access to Herpetosure® and our wider range of products through our dedicated online store. Alongside our flagship fencing system, we offer a carefully curated selection of ecological, environmental, and fencing products — all of which have been proven on-site by Three Shires Ltd over 25 years of industry practice.
Our mission is to make these professional-grade, trusted solutions readily available to contractors, developers, ecologists, and individuals who share our commitment to protecting wildlife and habitats while meeting the highest standards of construction and environmental compliance.
